Journey of the Universe: Chapters 1-3
Chapter 1, One key from Beginning of the Universe that I taught was interesting was in the 16th&17th centuries we realized that the Earth wasn't stationary but was moving around the sun. In the 18th century we came to realize that the human mind wasn't static, nor human society. Then in the 19th century, we discovered that the life forms themselves had gone through significant transformations over time. Finally in the 20th century the stars had changed dramatically, and the galaxies. The entire observable universe had passed through a series of irreversible transformations.
Birth of the Universe that I taught was interesting is the discovery of the universe has expanded and is still expanding is one of the greatest of human history. Scientist knew that mater changed forming the universe, but they assumed that the universe as a whole wasn't changing. The universe has a story- a beginning, middle (where we are now) and perhaps a future end.
Nuclei and Bonding that I taught was interesting was that in the beginning, the universe brought forth quarks and leptons, the elementary particles, which formed protons and neutrons. A thick and gluey form of matter called plasma. With out that there was almost no structure in the universe.
Chapter 2 was talking about the stars and the galaxies. Over the course of the 20th century, we discovered nearly a hundred billion galaxies. Each of them contains several billion stars. Scientist discovered that a series of waves were passing through the universe. Our Milky Way galaxy is one of a several dozen galaxies revolving around each other.  The most powerful feature of our galaxy is the spiral structure. This continues to create stars. Most of the stars that exists are doomed to die without being replaced.
Chapter 3 was talking about stars.  The most significant discovery is that stars are self organizing processes. They aren't just unchanging night objects in the nights sky. Stars don't only shine, they resonate and communicate. Throughout history humans have used stars for navigation. The stars are our ancestors.
